Confusion Na Wa – A Review

Confusion Na wa, first of its name!!

So confusion Na wa is not your regular movie, it almost seemed like the style was to appear intellectual rather than entertaining.

The movie tells the story of how a group of strangers become linked in a day by different circumstances. 2 street guys steal a phone then realize that the phone belongs to a married man who is having an affair with a married woman and they decide to blackmail him.

In the bid to appear intriguing they made the movie too abstract. Honestly, it’s something that you would expect to watch on a stage (a play) and not in the cinema or Netflix because it was soooo boring

I did not like the casting, OC Ukeje is a fine boy and all, but I don’t know why anyone will think I will want to watch only him and some other weak acts for over 90mins. Ramsey Noah did not have any business being in this movie. @ Ali Nuhu’s acting is always flat so I was not suprised, Gold is to old to be playing the part of a young street boy, even his outfits all through the movie showed that, he looked more like somebody’s uncle/daddy and not a young street guy trying to be hard smoking weed, picking pockets and looking for girls

I understand the movie gained international recognition and won awards in 2013 when it was released but truth be told, i could not relate because I was bored to tears, life is not supposed to be hard.

The theme of the movie was Circle of life, the incessant reference to the Lion King movie was irritating after a while

There were too many sub plots within the story and they forgot to neatly round up or conclude those stories, for example what eventually happened to Bello and his wife, is Bello gay? His wife kept on saying he was not a real man. What happened with Kola? Was he able to sleep with the prostitutes or not?

The movie started with a narration in Chichi’s voice but at the end we realize Chichi actually died so how was a dead man narrating?

I understand the movie is old but maybe they should not have brought it to Netflix, I did not enjoy it one bit, I just endured till the end

Rating: 4/10
